Salicylic acid is a white, crystalline powder that is widely distributed in nature in plant extracts such as white willow, wintergreen leaves and birch. When applied to the skin it has 3 fundamental properties: Keratolytic action Anti-inflammatory action Antimicrobial and comedolytic action The use of salicylic acid as a keratolytic agent is well known. It seems that exfoliation (desquamation) is produced by solubilization of the intracellular cement that holds the keratinocytes of the stratum corneum together. Salicylic acid reduces cohesion between corneocytes by altering corneosomes, or protein structures that hold cells together. This beta-hydroxy acid provides the skin with the following benefits: Reduces blemishes and scars Promotes skin rejuvenation Regulates excess oil and the appearance of pimples Refines the texture and improves the appearance of the skin Reduces the size of pores Unifies skin tone

What type of client is it for?

Indicated for clients who need to promote the renewal of their skin to improve its appearance, whether due to signs of aging, hyperpigmentation spots, thickened skin, oily skin with imperfections, acneic and/or seborrheic skin. Its application is also recommended in body areas such as arms, back, knees, elbows, etc.

How can I offer it to my clients? Sales tips

Chemical peeling is one of the most used procedures in Aesthetic Medicine and Dermatology for restorative purposes. Through chemical exfoliation, an improvement in the appearance of the skin surface, aged or altered by inflammatory skin conditions, is achieved and aesthetic defects such as spots, acne marks, wrinkles, etc. are eliminated or attenuated.

It is important to explain to the client the importance of treating post-acne scars, spots and signs of photoaging . And advise you on an effective treatment for your daily facial routine. On the other hand, detail the benefits and changes that you will see in the skin after its application:

• Sebaceous balance in the skin.
• Skin regeneration and repair.
• More uniform and healthy complexion.
• Reduction of signs or lines of photoaging.
• Depigmentation and reduction of spots.
• Acne prevention and removal of marks.
• Decongestion and inflammation.

Protocol for use in the cabin. Do I need any additional products to complete the treatment?

One week before the treatment, it is recommended to prepare the skin by daily using products with alpha-hydroxy acids or salicylic acid at a low concentration (For example: Science line, Génesis Activ cream, Body lotion with Aloe Vera or Melalán cream). We will not use more than one ampoule of product per facial session , in the case of body treatment we will study how much we need.

Instructions for use in the cabin:

• Clean and remove makeup from the area with Alan Coar Cleansing Milk.
• Tone the skin with the alcohol-free L'Arcou Tonic. Cover the eyelids with two cotton swabs soaked in room temperature water to protect the ocular conjunctiva.
• Application of the salicylic acid ampoule: Fold one of the sterile gauze pads contained in the treatment and begin the application, carefully dropping the product from the ampoule and spreading it with the gauze without pressing on the skin.

It is important to apply the product quickly all over the face (application should be carried out in approximately 30 seconds). It will begin to be applied to less sensitive areas such as the forehead, to gradually descend.

During application, do not massage, rub or press the area to be treated because it could accentuate the penetration of Salicylic Acid. Likewise, we will avoid the area of the eyelids, mucous membranes (nasal, oral, labial...) or wounds.

If there is excess product, insist on the areas that need it most until the contents of the ampoule are exhausted. The recommended exposure time is 5 minutes . After this time, the area should be cleaned with water. After the session, there may be a brief burning sensation (about two minutes) and tearing (as a result of this burning) that disappears in a few minutes. It is very important that we inform the client in advance.

This product has been formulated to reinforce other treatments. Therefore, once the acid has been neutralized, we can proceed in the same session to apply a treatment with alpha hydroxy acids. The combination of salicylic acid and alpha hydroxy acids achieves a synergistic effect that enhances the desired effectiveness.

If we do not subsequently perform another treatment, it is recommended to finish the peeling with the application of the Special Regenerating Milk or the Aminoacids cream. The treatment box only contains the Salicylic Acid ampoules, all other products for use in the cabin to complete the session must be purchased separately.

What treatment can I do before or after this?

The Salialán treatment has been formulated to enhance the results of other treatments, and the following treatments can be performed in the same session:

Glycopeeling Alpha-hydroxy acids at high concentration. Peeling used as a reinforcement to treat acne, aging and pigmentation disorders.

Renovalán : Therapy against photoaging that provides maximum hydration. Gentle peeling with Alpha-hydroxy acids, combined with nourishing ingredients and vitamins.

Melalan : Applicable to treat pigmentation disorders and problems. Gentle peeling with Alpha-hydroxy acids, Kojic Acid, Arbutin, vitamin C and Rumex extract.

Hyaluronic Activ : Intensive treatment of photoaging.

Warnings for professional use. What can't I do? What not to combine it with.

Although salicylic acid is neither photosensitive nor photosensitizing, it is an exfoliating agent that removes cells from the stratum corneum of the skin. This means that it leaves the skin more vulnerable to the harmful effects of the sun after application. It is advisable 2 or 3 days before not to subject the skin to any irritating process (abrasive treatments, hair removal, UVA rays...) on the area. Likewise, we will not expose the skin to the sun until after 7-10 days and we will avoid areas of intense heat such as saunas and jacuzzis. Avoid its application in cases of pregnancy and lactation due to the risk of systemic absorption.
